Dark Chocolate Protein Donuts

Rich, dark chocolate protein donuts to satisfy any sweet tooth!

Ingredients

30 g chocolate whey protein powder (I used Dymatize ISO 100)

15 g coconut flour

15 g black onyx cocoa powder

15 g baking Stevia

5 g baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

75 g Fage non fat Greek yogurt

75 g liquid egg whites

75 g unsweetened apple sauce

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350.
  2. In a bowl mix together the protein powder, black cocoa, coconut flour, baking Stevia, baking powder, and salt until well incorporated.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the yogurt, egg whites, apple sauce, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add your dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredient mixture a little at a time until you have a nice batter.
  5. Evenly distribute the batter into the donut baking pan.
  6. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool, add your frosting and enjoy!

Notes

I used Dymatize ISO 100 Rich Chocolate but you can use any whey protein powder you have on hand. Please note that the nutrition may change depending on which type of protein you use. 

You can also substitute the black onyx cocoa powder with regular cocoa or cacao powder but the color won’t be as dark. I also notice that the black onyx cocoa gives it a richer chocolatey taste.
